Abraham was told his descendants wouldn’t receive the land promised to him for four hundred years because “The iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” (Genesis 15:16) By God’s measure, the sin of the Amorites is now complete. God’s judgment is always certain and timely.
God’s plan to give the Israelites the land begins in Jericho, and Joshua sends spies in to assess it. They don’t gather much military intelligence, but perhaps their real purpose was that there’s a woman there that God wants them to meet.
The result of that is Rahab’s faith has encouraged many for thousands of years.
