It’s been roughly six hundred years since God called Abram, and he became the father of the Nation of Israel. None of the Israelites before this generation owned their own land anywhere, other than the burial cave that Abraham bought for his wife, Sarah (Genesis 23:17-20).
Four hundred of those years were spent in slavery in Egypt. The last forty were spent wandering in the desert.
All of that changes with Joshua’s commissioning. They will now be given the land that God promised Abraham all those years ago.
Joshua is much more than a historical book. It demonstrates God’s gift of salvation and his judgment in many ways.
