José Ramón Becerra (General Director of the Animal Rights Agency, Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, Government of Spain) presented 'Spain, 2025: Lights and Shadows of Animal Protection' at our Centre's European Animal Rights Law Conference 2025.
José Ramón Becerra Carollo has spent almost his entire professional career in public administration, holding technical and management positions. Since 2016 he has been speaker of the Spanish Green Party, firstly in the Basque Parliament. where he led the reform of the Basque Law on Animal Protection, one of the most advanced regional regulations in Spain. Since the beginning of 2024 he is the Director General of Animal Rights in the Spanish Government and one of the leaders of the Spanish Green Party.
