About the Artist & this Collab:
Jonny Morgan is a British soul-stirrer with a six string and writes music that hits like a freight train. With dynamic vocals, blistering guitar and sax solos, as well as thought-provoking and often tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Jonny is creating music that captures the essence of the classic, vintage sounds he grew up on. Think Stones swagger, a splash of The Clash, with a healthy dose of driving Americana for good measure.
LDN Features' connection with Jonny Morgan came through our host and interviewer, Dieter. After a brief Zoom call and watching Jonny's album launch show at The Water Rats in London, he was quickly in the studio with us recording the album track “The Hope That Kills You”.
We were also really honoured to have Jonny’s wife, Eve Lesedi, join us on sax for this session. Jonny and Eve had only recently got married, so having them both in the room together brought such a beautiful vibe to the studio.
We were also incredibly lucky that Konk Studios let us use their vintage B3 Hammond organ and Leslie cabinet for the session. Edu, our LDN Features keyboard player, absolutely loved getting to play the real thing, and it brought a whole other dimension to the song. Having a three-piece horn section alongside a real Hammond organ was an absolute delight for the LDN Features studio band.
