Jon Vayla returns on 13 November with Third, a new 17-track album originally conceived as the score to filmmaker Alex Parkinson’s forthcoming feature of the same name.
The project represents a significant departure for Jon Vayla, whose previous work across Bolt Gun, SNAW and his solo material has largely inhabited the worlds of doom, black metal, dark ambient and experimental heavy music. Written directly in response to Parkinson’s film, Third gave him an opportunity to work outside those established forms, resulting in a record of sparse piano, restrained electronics, dark jazz, layered guitars and spacious ensemble performances.
