Our video today is about stray dogs attacking a man in Turkey. Turks are extremely generous and nice people no doubt about it. But when it comes to humour Turks have no inclination towards self deprecation in their humour. In this way they act more like Germans and emulate the German love of Schadenfreude or dark humour. They love to laugh at the misfortunes that befall others. Physical jokes aren't an exception either, pushing someone down the stairs, into the pool , pushing someone towards an angry dog etc isn't a big deal.
In this clip, a shopkeeper pinched at a man's leg from behind with a bark sound to make him think that a dog nipped at his leg. It was all funs and games, till the time stray dogs that were sleeping near by attacked the man. This sudden awakening may cause dogs to distort reality and exhibit decreased impulse control, and possibly aggression, albeit temporarily. Many dogs will easily shake it off when woken suddenly.
But some dogs may growl, snap, lunge, and bite when woken unexpectedly. This is exactly what happened in this clip, dogs didn't expect to be woken up by a sudden bark sound and a scared man screaming. Domestic dogs still carry some of these wild traits, and it’s not uncommon for a sleeping dog to attempt a bite when startled awake by touch, movement, or noise. The guy who was attacked probably would've laughed about it himself later on. But at that particular time things could've gone out of control.
We Would never recommend to play such jokes on people that can put them in danger. However, we do respect other cultures and try our best to learn as much as we can about them. Learning different cultures is good for bringing people together. Learning about different cultures is also fun and you can often find surprising similarities. It is fascinating to know what someone else may think about something you believe.
