Johnny Cash cemented his place in the U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall Collection on Tuesday as a representative of the state of Arkansas.

The country icon's bronze statue joins one of Daisy Bates, a civil rights leader and supporter of the Little Rock Nine, that was unveiled in May.

The Arkansas state legislature voted in 2019 to replace the state's two previous statues of little-known figures from the 19th century — Uriah Milton Rose, a lawyer from Little Rock, and James P. Clarke, a former governor and senator — with ones of Mr. Cash and Ms. Bates.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by members of the Cash family as well as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R).
