This standup routine is taken from KTCA's Land O Loons #3 comedy special, aired in 1989. At the time this was taped, Joel had already started doing the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. This was around the time when MST3K was transitioning from a local program on KTMA to a national program on Comedy Central. Since Jeff Cesario didn't mention MST3K in the introduction, one might assume the Comedy Central episodes hadn't started to air yet.
