Adam Matlock | Joe Hisaishi - Theme from Hana-Bi (An Historic Accordion Cover) @pinguchan1 | Uploaded 7 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
Theme from Hana-Bi (はなび)
Composed by Joe Hisaishi (久石 譲)
This incredibly lush piece of film music comes from the 1997 film Hana-Bi, a hard-boiled police thriller with lots of emotional depth. Many Americans know Joe Hisaishi's music for his collaborations with animated film visionary Hayao Miyazaki. When I discovered this other side of Hisaishi's music, such as what he used in the films he scored by Takeshi Kitano, I was thrilled to hear a whole different set of harmonic and tonal colors - but still thoroughly romantic, wearing a strong influence from composer Astor Piazzolla. In some of Hisaishi's non-soundtrack composition you can hear the blend of all of his sounds a little more evenly, but as a soundtrack composer his ability to adapt and compartmentalize his sound is quite entrancing.
