The 1977 Voyager I and II spacecraft contained, among other things, two “Golden Records” that each carried a representation of life and culture on Earth into deep space. The records included the sounds of nature, greetings in 50 languages, and an assortment of music from around the world.
Inspired by the optimism and imagination of that project, The Moanin’ Frogs present their take on The Golden Record in ONE GIANT LEAP. The album includes five selections from the Voyager Golden Records alongside other works they believe deserve a place in the cosmos. Ordered to highlight both the stylistic differences of the works as well as the musical resonances between them, the album celebrates cultural differences and shared humanity.
