Jo Thomas is a composer who works with electronic sound. She is a composer and sound artist. Jo has worked on public commissions, concerts, galleries, sound walks, privately commissioned work. In her process, Jo works to create grit, glitch and fine detail. She has her own imprint Soft Apple and is committed to building a catalogue of interesting electronic/acoustic work.
In 2012 Jo Thomas won the Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica in Digital Musics and Sound Art for her work Crystal Sounds of a Synchrotron. Her work is released by the label Entr’acte, Holiday Records Naxos, NMC Recordings, The Tapeworm and Soft Apple.
Her work is available on Vinyl and CD, she works with bespoke instruments and has worked on a combination of very experimental work and commercial projects. Jo Thomas a freelance artist. She is the Vice-Chair of Sound and Music and a Director at the Ivors Academy.
Jo Thomas is the founder of the Disabled/Neuro Diversity/Non-Disabled Covid 19 a temporary collective network set up for artists during Covid 19.
