In this video i want to present you an effective very accurate way to align the JL Audio W7 subwoofer coil while refoaming it. The W7 cone shape are made of TWO pieces to make a structural benefit.
The top cover is not a simple dust cap. VERY IMPORTANT: The little cone in the middle is not a dust cap too. It can NOT be removed without cuting it from the base cone and doing that would affect the integrity of the cone structure during high stroke.
It is not possible to add shim between the magnet and the coil then. The spider can place the coil in the middle but the tilt angle can still be aligned wrong with the common proposed method on youtube which is simple as: "look at it and keep it centered" in order to solve that I have found a way to keep it dead center using a laser so the coil angle is right in the middle. and will not rub against the magnet during full stroke!
Sorry for the last part of the video the magnet disturbed my cellphone orientation sensor and image is fliped.
Part II of this video will be made once the glue is cured in a few days. i will then test the full stroke and see if alignment is as expected.
