Jiufen is a former gold mining town in seaside mountain area, an hour away from Taipei City, Taiwan's capital. Jiufen and the surrounding area are one of the top attractions of Taiwan, because of the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, the mountains and the town itself with its maze of lanes and alleyways, retro Chinese and Japanese style cafes, tea houses, and souvenir shops. Jiufen popularity is also due to its resemblance to the town in the Japanese masterpiece anime "Spirited Away".
In the video: views from the surrounding mountains, hiking around Teapot Mountain, Mt. Keelung, the neighboring Jinguashi, and the crowded streets of Jiufen.

The Roman emperor Diocletian built the palace between 295 and 305 CE for his retirement. The Diocletians palace is one of the best preserved roman buildings from late antiquity, its ruins are in the central area of the city of Split in Croatia.
The residents of the area since the 7th century transformed the palace into a town by building and incorporating their homes into the old walls, columns and structures. The Saint Domnius Cathedral and the Romanesque bell tower were built in the Middle Ages, using materials from the ancient Diocletian mausoleum. Today the ruins and the historic buildings are in an inhabited part of the city, intermixed with shops, restaurants, and houses.
The Diocletians Palace is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site not only for the Roman ruins but also for the gothic and baroque buildings from the middle ages.
