Jimmy Olsen used to be Superman’s best friend, his partner in the weirdest, wildest adventures the Silver Age had to offer. But in Superman: The Animated Series, Jimmy was transformed into a minor supporting character who was sometimes the butt of jokes. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though.

Let’s talk about how STAS reimagined Jimmy Olsen, what was lost in that transition, and how a character once bursting with bizarre energy was brought down to earth.
