When I was about 4 years old, I became aware of who Jiminy Cricket was (through "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color", which we saw in black and white at the time). Later, we moved from an apartment 2 a single-family home, and when we first moved in (1964), there were crickets in the basement, and I couldn't bring myself to stomp them, even though they were nude and not holding umbrellas...
