Beat Domino Tower Tilt! | 3D Printed Tower Trigger Domino 22DOMINOES22 2019-10-26 | Hi there! It's time to experiment with a freaky domino. I designed this one in Fusion 360 and 3D printed it. One of its long edges is rounded so that when it tips, the dominoes above it remain at the same height, making it easy to tip this trigger domino. When scaled up, it only succeeds in toppling simple towers, because large structures, including walls, are great at supporting themselves even when lacking dominoes. So this test was quite a small result, but hopefully something interesting for you and maybe it could also spur some other ideas you may have! Pixel Art with ONLY Dominoes! FallWall 2.0 Domino Trick Tutorial + New Intro 22DOMINOES22 2017-12-30 | Hi there! It's time -- most definitely -- for a new domino trick tutorial! But first, please watch the crossover video if you haven't already: youtube.com/watch?v=BJUoCytK7l0.It has been quite some time since we've had a tutorial...about one and a half years, in fact. A lot has happened since then and for this channel, we have a new introduction! Well I say new, this intro was actually used in the now cancelled Toca TV app by Toca Boca in a version of the Domino Rally 1 video I submitted to them. I'd wanted to release the introduction, but I hadn't made a tutorial then and I could not figure out all the kinks in it. Nonetheless, here we are! Here's an upgrade for the classic fallwall trick which uses custom wooden stands. This version uses only dominoes and scales vertically! Of course, there is still a lot that can be explored with this trick, so try out any ideas you may have! I also offer a challenge out there for anyone to make a picture-changing fallwall. If we allow string and tape, I think it would be fairly simple doing this as we can string the front pixels together and have them pull each other out. If you would like to follow the restrictions I usually follow when making these tricks, the rules are to only have unaltered dominoes in the setup when it's complete, plus any platforms. Of course, any aids in building are fine, such as lego templates. Bulkdominoes Unboxing 4 - Neutral 22DOMINOES22 2017-07-23 | Hi there! Here's yet another unboxing from Bulkdominoes.com. I went for neutral colors mainly this time around. This is partially for screenlink contests and also to aid in picture outlines in field, wall and scene designs. I also ordered two hundred more clear dominoes for mazewalls. The count has resulted in mixed feelings as I received more than 22 extra dominoes, but am missing a glow-in-the-dark domino. As this type costs more than twice that of regular dominoes, I was disappointed to have a missing domino. Sad things aside, the glow-in-the-dark dominoes glow decently with little exposure to natural or artificial light. With a prolonged exposure, the dominoes charge up and glow brightly and evenly. This time around I didn't add any sample projects. Check out the end of my first or second unboxings to see some samples. Falling Back from the Fails of Downfall 22DOMINOES22 2015-05-25 | Hi there! As always, engineering and doing new things in general never work perfectly. That's the new growing reason why I still try to make long domino chains if I can. It reveals the flaws to a trick that is not obvious when only used a few times. I tend to completely topple a failed domino run so that on playback, I might find the reason for a fail and see if I can change anything. Towers that Fall from the Top!? | Breakaway Tower Tutorial 22DOMINOES22 2015-02-23 | Hi there! Here is an upgrade to the regular 2-domino-layer tower that collapses contrary to most other towers. It can be toppled from a domino line on the bottom, but disintegrates from the top! If your eye is quick enough or you've got a camera, you will notice that the dominoes within the tower will go askew before the tower finally crumbles. Because of how it collapses away from the trigger point in a messy way, I'll call this the breakaway tower (similarly to "breakaway" in the breakaway wand prop). This trick is very messy and hard to control, try adding tall, heavy walls as a barrier between the rest of your rally or make the towers part of your rally's ending. When trying to make this, my goal was to actually come up with a mechanism as efficient and compact as possible (with only dominoes, of course) to properly trigger a wallback. Possible existing methods would be the string trick (as in CrazyPantsDominoChild's video), a mini stair case, etc. Early tests included the dominoes in the center to be in a column and the whole column should have shifted down when the domino on the bottom (equivalent to the bottom orange domino in the video) was tipped over. The only problem was the domino stack put too much weight on the bottom domino so it did not want to tip over. I then tried putting some of the weight of the inner domino stack by placing overhanging dominoes onto the main outer domino tower (like the yellow dominoes in the video). This final configuration resulted in what you see in the video. The dominoes within the tower tip in pairs and each pair rotates in opposite directions. The tower does not collapse until the top of the tower where the dominoes have less weight put on them. Diving into physics, the crooked/tilted dominoes exerts part of their weight in the horizontal direction to the tower walls and with enough weight on the top tower (hence the three-domino pack), the top dominoes will fall off and the moving/falling dominoes will help the next floors also fall. This does do what I was trying to do, that is, set off a wallback, but I still don't have enough dominoes to demonstrate that properly and make a tutorial for that. Basically, end the tower in such a way that one of the standing inner dominoes fling its way out of the tower, but add more dominoes around this one to prevent the entire tower from toppling.
