In the Parro Plateau in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, home to the legendary Kar Jojo or Jewel Cavern. Reaching a confirmed depth of 1,328 meters, these caverns were believed to house dragons and luminous beings in ancient Persian lore. Excavated in July 1949 by American anthropologist Colton Stevens, the site revealed Musurian stone tools from the Middle Paleolithic era and remains of 109 species of mammals, including early humans .
