The FIRST was: the American Christians accepting the U.S. Constitution claims that Authority comes from the People and not from Jesus Christ. The SECOND major theological shift was: regarding the Master-Slave relationship of which the greatest Northern theologian the Bishop of Vermont and the head Bishop of the Episcopal Church wrote "that there is no question on which the Holy Catholic Church was more perfectly unanimous" than its upholding of the legitimacy of the master-slave relationship when properly carried out in accordance with Scripture. The THIRD and most discussed is: the theological heresy adopted by many American Christians that Jesus is not currently the Christ sitting on the Throne of David. This latter heresy came to America from John Nelson Darby and was popularized by the Scofield Reference Bible. This THIRD doctrinal shift is the most ALARMING because 1 John ch. 2:22 says, who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ and 1 John 5:1 says you are only born again when you believe that Jesus is the Christ.
