Twenty-five years after the popular series launched, “NFL Blitz” is returning in the arcade format that made it famous. Arcade1Up, a retro arcade company, announced that remastered versions of the series’ first three games will be released this fall, featuring retired star players including Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, Dan Marino, Brett Favre and Jerome Bettis. A key feature of the previous iteration of the game, however, has been removed — late hits on players long after the play is over no longer exists for this remastered version

The Washington Post sat down with Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice to get his take on the game, its upcoming revival and its legacy.
