Can shaking a plant make it stronger?

To find out, I built a custom 3D printed solenoid machine that repeatedly shook a rubber plant (Ficus elastica) over 250,000 times during a 30-day experiment. The goal was to test whether mechanical stress, vibration, and simulated wind exposure could increase stem thickness, plant strength, and overall growth.

In nature, plants experience wind, rain, movement, and physical stress that can influence how they grow. This process, known as thigmomorphogenesis, causes plants to adapt to repeated mechanical stimulation. But what happens when you automate the process and subject a houseplant to hundreds of thousands of shakes?
