In the early 2000s, the Watchtower formed seven new corporations. Their actions included removing the Governing Body from serving as corporate officers or directors in any of these new corporations and resulting in all Governing Body members stepping aside from their positions and distancing themselves from all the Watchtower corporate entities, vacating positions as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Instead, filling these corporate positions with officers and directors personally handpicked by the Governing Body.
