Here is a simple but swinging II-V-I lick in G, with which I then demonstrate how I transpose licks into other keys D, C, F, Bb).
A method!
Licks are an essential part of your improvisation repertoire and this video is one of a series demonstrating some juicy licks for violin.
Don't forget, "stealing" licks from other instruments can often work and will help get you out of the Grappelli imitation rut (although he's our go-to man for jazz fiddle licks, of course!)
I've included the notes on the screen (in alphabetic notation) to help you out. Let me know if this works for you. You should, of course, try to reproduce and learn these little snippets by ear, wherever possible.
