In this video we compare SciChart.js with Arction LightningChart JS (lcjs) in a high performance JavaScript charting benchmark. LightningChart claims it can render 100 million data points in 6.5 seconds. We put this to the test using SciChart.js, a GPU accelerated WebGL and WebAssembly powered chart library built for real time, high density data visualization.

Why This Comparison Matters

For developers building scientific, medical, financial, industrial, defense, energy, semiconductor, or aerospace applications, rendering millions of data points in real time is critical. Applications like sensor monitoring, IoT dashboards, and live financial trading require chart libraries that are fast, feature rich, and flexible.

Performance Test Details

Test code based on the public GitHub benchmark: github.com/Arction/javascript-charts-performance-comparison

Compared SciChart.js v2.2 vs lcjs v3.4.0

Static drawing test: 10 series × 10,000,000 points each = 100,000,000 points total

Hardware: Razer Blade Laptop, Intel i7 12800H, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA 3080 Ti (Laptop GPU)

Result

SciChart.js – 11 seconds

LightningChart JS (lcjs) – 32 seconds, crashed at 90 million points

SciChart.js rendered 2.9 times faster than lcjs in this test, demonstrating the power of WebGL and WebAssembly optimization for real time, large scale data visualization.
