This video explains how to make use of the java.util.prefs.Preferences class to store your preference / configuration values persistently.
An instance of the Preferences class can be created using Preferences.userNodeForPackage(Classname.class). Then the variable can be used for storing String, Integer, Float, Boolean, Double and Byte Arrays in a key-value pair mechanism.
The preferences will be saved persistently. In windows, these values will be stored under the registry whereas in Linux it will be stored in .java folder at home.
For later use, Preferences can be exported using exportNode(OutputStram out) method.
