Techmoan | Japan's 1980s 3D Videodisc system - 3D VHD @Techmoan | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 1 day ago
25 years before 3D Blu-ray, some enthusiasts in Japan were watching 3D movies in their homes courtesy of the 3D VHD system. Better late than never I'm going to try it out.

CORRECTION/CLARIFICATION
Regarding the way the disc stores the 3D - as mentioned it’s two frames per rotation made up of four fields, what I neglected to mention though was that the interlaced fields probably (most likely?) alternate for each eye. So that would be left eye field 1, right eye field 1, left eye field 2, right eye field 2. I know almost no one will read this, but for that one person who does and who gives a hoot,…Hi, I hope you have a great day.

There’s also a lot of information on 3D VHD on disclord.tripod.com/vhddiscworld - but unfortunately the website seems to have been abandoned in 2001 and since has been invaded by dodgy spam adverts that tell you you have a virus, so visit at your own risk.

Regularly asked question
Q) Why are there comments from days ago when this video has just gone live today?
A) Patrons patreon.com/techmoan usually have early access to videos. I'll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. The video that goes live on youtube is the final version. If you want to see the videos early and before any adverts are added, you can sign up to Patreon here: patreon.com/techmoan
