Onomatopoeia are really common in the Japanese language! Onomatopoeia are words that are based on a sound associated with the thing they represent. In Japanese these tend to be repeated words such as キラキラ kirakira (sparkly) ✨ Rachel and I teach you a bunch of common Japanese Onomatopoeia!

paku paku - eating, munching
kara kara - thirsty
kira kira - sparkly
goro goro - rolling, lying down (being lazy)
jiro jiro - staring

gocha gocha - messy
buka buka - loose
zara zara - coarse
sara sara - smooth
yochi yochi - baby crawling (unstable walking)
