Low kicks are one of the most important weapons in striking — but not all low kicks are the same.
In this video, European K-1 champion and renowned Japanese coach Tai Terada breaks down the key differences between Japanese style kickboxing, Dutch/European kickboxing and Muay Thai low kicks, explaining how each style approaches:
• range and distance management
• short vs long range low kicks
• timing and rhythm breaking
• fight IQ and combination building
• how to use the modern Japanese short-range low kick
The video finishes with a progressive, fight IQ-driven combination, showing how to effectively integrate the Japanese low kick into real sparring or fighting situations.
