In this Hanashi oral history clip, Harry Fukuhara recalls the tension and Nisei-Kibei conflicts that surfaced while in camp in Gila River. While rumors swirled around the success of Japan's military overseas, confusion permeated the camp and began to drive a wedge between the Japan-educated Kibei and the American-educated Nisei. Harry recalls that one such rumor was that Japan's military would invade Mexico and come to liberate the Japanese Americans from camp.
