Janus Rasmussen, one half of the critically acclaimed minimal techno duo KIASMOS, has released his debut solo album Vín on the 29th of March via Christian Löffler’s Ki Records.

Filled with 12 instrumental tracks, Janus Rasmussen’s debut solo album is laid out like an exquisitely curated DJ set. Beginning with tender and emotional tracks, only to allow each track to grow bigger in size than the previous, all culminating in a memorable climax. From the lead single and opening track, ‘Green Wine’,’ the listener is invited along to take a tour of a spectrum of genres as Vín kicks off with downtempo and soothing house tracks, moving unto the deep house style of ‘Lilla’, ‘March’ and ‘April’. Soon after, it’s hard to ignore the switch that occurs from ‘14’ onwards, as each consecutive piece builds upon the bass and the danceability of those that came before.

On why he decided to release his solo tracks, Janus Rasmussen said “I had been playing a lot of these songs [live], and they were working really well. I didn’t really tell anyone what the songs were, but they were obviously really fitting into the sets, as they’re not too far off from the Kiasmos sound, despite being different. I had never done that before: playing unfinished tracks and just seeing the reaction. It was super fun, actually. You learn a lot about your own music when you do that.”
