Ellroy's new novel, Perfidia, takes place in December of 1941, exploring the ripple effects of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, in particular the resulting internement of Japanese immigrants. It's the first in a planned quartet, which Ellroy calls his Second L.A. Quartet. (The first quartet included the novels The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential, and White Jazz).
“Perfidia marks the chronological beginning of my life’s work,” Ellroy said.
