The premise is simple enough: you’re going to play at a jam night and an amp will be provided for you. You can bring a handful of pedals if you want, and you’ll have around five mins to get acquainted. GO!

A true guitar legend joins us to talk playing, tone and much more!
Welcome to the show. It is indeed a big day for Dan and I as we welcome one of our all-time playing heroes to Schwangri-La, Mr Robben Ford.
Dan has been working with Robben for a little while now, helping him to get a new pedalboard together for new tones and inspiration.
In this video we talk about his recent playing life, taking in a few choice guitars along the way. Please note there is/will be a separate video in which Robben shows us his fabled Dumble Overdrive Special amplifier and tells its amazing story. In more recent times, his Little Walter 50-watt ’59 model has been taking care of business, as it is in this video!

Quick signal path explanation…
Robben’s signal chain goes in the order that you see it on the QMX6 switcher from right to left.
The volume pedal is placed AFTER the QMX switcher and BEFORE the delay and reverb which are not in QMX loops. Reverb is last in the chain.
Guitar plugs into the input of the QMX.

Love playing loud? So do we… But you might need to think about this too…
Welcome to the show! Regular viewers might be a little bit confused by this. Dan and I will die on the hill defending the right of musicians (and guitar players – ha!) to be able to play loud. If there’s no loud, there’s no rock’n’roll – it’s as simple as that.
However, nothing that’s actually worth anything in life is free (except maybe love, but that’s a whole other story). Those volume-created endorphins that make live music such a blissful experience have a cost, and it can be your hearing. Many are the tales of musicians famous and less so, whose hearing has suffered irreparable damage as a result of exposure to extended loud noise.
So what are we to do? What do we need to know and what are some of things we can do?
This conversation includes one intelligent human – Tom Trones of Minuendo – and two others just about hanging in there, discussing all of the above without hubris or shock factor. Consider it a springboard – if you haven’t already jumped – to better awareness of the issues surrounding noise and volume. What we all do after that is, inevitably, up to us as individuals. Food for thought, we hope.

If you must have springs – and you MUST – which one would you choose?
Welcome to the show. Yes we’ve done spring reverbs before, but there are a couple of interesting, relatively recent entrants to the market. So it’s time to get springy once again.
Crazy Tube Circuits has updated the White Whale to V2 and Echo Fix has introduced its own surprisingly compact, real spring ’verb. Dan loves the Headroom, I love the Surfy Bear and – judging by the comments in the last video – you all love the Dano Spring King!
You know the deal, we’ll have a blast through all of ’em and see what we think.

- Why no digital spring reverb pedal?
We wouldnt choose one over a real spring. Ever. Digital is of course fantastic for plates, rooms and all the weird-beardy stuff, and we use those all the time.
- Why don’t you have the big Fender tube one?
They’re rare, we couldn’t find one to borrow and we wouldn’t buy one with our own money. Sorta the same for the Victoria Reverberato. Except we probably would.
- Why didn’t you include the Game Changer Light Pedal?
