Released in 2001, Jak and Daxter is a 3D platformer for the PS2 set in a seamless world with enormous vistas and colorful, well-animated characters. Jak embarks on a quest to reverse his best friend, Daxter's, transformation into a furry Ottsel and in the process you end up having to save the world from twisted minds wanting to unleash dark eco, the most dangerous element in the universe.
At this past Awesome Games Done Quick, $1,025,000 was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It only took a week of continuous streaming, 18,000 donors, and many many runners to achieve. A big thanks to everyone responsible for these amazing numbers, what a humbling achievement. For comparison, last year's event raised just under $500,000.

Released in July 2001, Power shovel is one of the most entertaining half-translated backhoe games out there. There is a large variety of mini-games including destroying a limo, demolishing a building, scooping and serving curry, moving your shovel through an electrical wall (a la irritating stick), speedy sand moving and rescueing turtles. There are three exciting modes, Drive Power Shovel!, Get It With The Power Shovel, and, my personal favourite, Watch The Power Shovel! Listen!. For myself, the best part of this game is the yelling that is going on all the time, 30% in english and 70% in japanese.
