In this week’s Torah Portion, Parashat Vayetze (Genesis 28:10–32:3), we explore the remarkable journey of Jacob, beginning with his vision of Sulam Yaakov — Jacob’s Ladder — a divine staircase connecting heaven and earth. Scripture calls this place Sha’ar HaShamayim, the Gate of Heaven.
✨ We see how this moment prophetically points to Yeshua, who later says, “You will see angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” Yeshua is revealed as the true ladder — the living connection between heaven and earth, and the one who brings us into the heart of God.
But the story goes far beyond that.
We follow Jacob through:
His emotional encounter with Rachel at the well
His love story and heartbreak through deception by Lavan
The birth of his children through Leah, Rachel, Bilhah, and Zilpah
His growing household and the blessings of God despite manipulation
His struggle to leave Lavan and return home
The moment God tells him, “I will be with you.”
And the prophetic New Covenant connection with John 1:43–51
