This is dedicated to the wonderful XxxStarg8rocksxxX! She made me a gorgeous Han/Leia video for Christmas and she also made me two *beautiful* parts for my birthday collab!!! Happy new year, everybody!!!! I hope you all have an absolutely fantabulous year. Personally I think this is going to be *my* year. I'm going back to college on January 19th and I'm really excited about it. Despite the fact that I'm going to have to go on a semi-hiatus from vidding because of it...
Some notes about this video (spoilers for the whole video, so please watch it first!) –
1. The sharp gray-ish coloring represents moments when they're being professional and hiding their feelings. The bright glowy coloring represents their true feelings for each other. So in the scene where they first meet, Jack is complaining about how she's another scientist, but really he “adores her already”. I hope I managed to convey this idea in the video...
2. I can't believe I didn't think to use this song for Jack/Sam until now. The lines “I found love where it wasn't supposed to be” and “talk some sense to me” work so incredibly well for them. On the surface, “talk some sense to me” makes sense (pun intended lol) because she's a scientist. But if you go a level deeper, I think it really applies to their feelings for each other. Every time Jack starts thinking “screw it, I'm gonna kiss her,” he needs someone to remind him why he shouldn't do that. Why his job is too important. So in my mind, every time she calls him “Sir”, he's reminded of why they can't be together. Which brings me to my next point...
3. If you're wondering why I chose that particular SGU scene to end the video, here's why: that is Jack and Sam's last on-screen interaction ever. I thought it was a nice contrast to the beginning where I used their first on-screen interaction. I also thought that it was the perfect encapsulation of their relationship. “I'm sorry, Sam.” “Yes, Sir.” He's sorry that their situation is such that they can't be together and he calls her Sam because he's starting to think maybe he should just retire, but then she reminds him of the reality of their situation by calling him 'Sir'. Although my personal headcanon is that they've been together since Moebius... When he said “I wouldn't be here,” in Affinity, he was insinuating that he would have given up everything to be with her. What if he accepted the job in Washington so that he wouldn't be her direct superior so that they could finally be together??

Sam: “It is theoretically possible.”
Jack: “Because I care about her... a lot more than I'm supposed to.”

Sam: “What about you? If things had been different...”
Sam: “What are you smiling at?”
Jack: “Nothing.”
Sam: “Imagine the galaxy is an apple.”
