Here is the debut album, almost a decade coming, from me, (sometimes) Massachusetts-based musician Dan Szetela, under the Voivod-inspired name Jack Luminous. The record consists of 9 'emosoul' songs, equally influenced by Sunny & The Sunliners and Modern Baseball, Texas Is The Reason and Durand Jones & The Indications. I did just about everything on it - the songwriting, all instruments, vocals, lyrics, recording, editing, and mixing. It's just under 40 minutes of the best songs I have ever written accompanied by a clear voice expounding on themes close to me that I think you might just relate to too. It's an album at its core about love - love for certain people, love for places, love for my bicycle, and love for life itself. But it is also about the darkness that often coexists and engages with this light. And it is of course a pandemic album, grounded in that fleeting sense of naive optimism that pre-Delta, post-vax May and June (when I wrote the lyrics) gave us. Enjoy!
