On May 2, 2025, siblings Lilly Sullivan, 6, and Jack Sullivan, 4, vanished from their rural home on Gairloch Road in Lansdowne Station, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, sparking a massive search and international attention. The children, members of the Sipekne’katik First Nation, were last seen at home by their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, and stepfather, Daniel Martell, who reported them missing around 10 a.m. after noticing their absence. Authorities believe the siblings, who were home from school due to Lilly’s cough, likely wandered into the dense, wooded terrain surrounding their home, an area made nearly impassable by Hurricane Fiona’s aftermath in 2022. Despite extensive efforts involving over 160 volunteers, RCMP units, drones, helicopters, and K9 teams, no confirmed sightings have emerged since May 1, when surveillance footage captured them with family in New Glasgow.
