Thanks to Jack Daniel's for sharing their Single Barrel Heritage Barrel with us! It's aged for at least 7 years, is 100°, and has a mashbill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. The barrels also undergo a longer toasting period before being flash charred. The typical toasting time is 12 minutes, but this release doubles it to 24 minutes, while the flash charring process meets the minimum requirements for being considered charred oak. The differences don't stop there, as the whiskey is cut down to 100° before going into the barrel, and then stored in their highest elevation warehouses. After being dumped, the whiskey is then cut back down to 100° before bottling.
