Are James Bond movies better when they follow the books?

Jack Carr brought up 007 as one of his favorite book-to-film examples, but made a great point:

The early movies pulled more from Ian Fleming’s books.

Later ones sometimes just used the titles.

Eventually, they ran out of Fleming titles and started making up names that sounded like Bond books.

They're still fantastic movies.

Just not always strict adaptations.
