Can a movie adaptation be great even if it isn't 100% faithful to the book?

Jack Carr says First Blood is one of the best examples.

The 1972 David Morrell novel and the early ’80s Sylvester Stallone film are very different from each other.

But both are great.

That helped Jack when The Terminal List moved into Hollywood.

Books and shows are different mediums.

Books don’t have to worry about actor availability, locations, budgets, episode length, or season arcs.

TV does.

So when changes happen, Jack says that’s okay.

The goal is to make the best version of the story for the medium.
