Last month, @jbalvin joined us as part of Rolling Stone’s residency at New York’s @CherryLaneTheatre for his first Rolling Stone Interview. He took us through the struggles and major breakthroughs in his decades-long career and highlighted his upbringing in #colombia, his biggest hits, and his favorite moments with Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, and more.
And yet, as he recounted these stories, Balvin was quick to point out that none of it was as easy or as straightforward as it looked. “It feels fast, but it wasn’t,” he admitted. “It took me, I mean, 20 years.” And he’s weathered a lot: Mental health issues, controversies, feuds. But one of Balvin’s powers has been his staying power — and his ability to build a career that’s been focused on longevity.
He’s not ready to stop any time soon — but he’s taking the time to enjoy the ride these days.
