Note that this model is infamous for supposedly containing lots of bugs and quirks, so some effects and visuals may be a lot glitchier and erratic than intended. It's kind of hard to tell though, given the demo itself likes to present a "fake glitchy" set of effects sometimes that it's almost perfectly good at hiding the actual visual bugs.
Almost, though, and not entirely, since segments like the greetings callouts are almost entirely broken. However, the most interesting part was when the demo was run prior to this recording, it looked more correct than the recording itself.Mega Man 2 GB / Rockman World 2 Music Improvement Hack Update (2.0)Blue Mario2024-01-29 | Please note all sound effects/songs are WIP. I took a re-listen to the Mother 1 OST recently. This track really stuck to me, so I decided to cover it. I don't know why I chose the SN7, but it does work as the chip is quite well suited for tunes of this kind.
Yes, the drums are noise only. It's using a trick identical to how Tomy does his SN7 tunes, but modified for the TI model, which has a different LFSR from the usual SEGA models. As a result, his trick ends up being better on the original TI model due to the LSFR having a segment where a square wave can be output.

One of my favorite SNES soundtracks, which is composed by a guy who did 5 games for Intelligent/Nintendo and then simply dipped. A shame, the soundtracks he's done are amazing. I also wanted to utilize the "ladder effect" quirk that YM2612 chips exhibit, using it for reverb-like sounds to fill a song that would otherwise feel empty.
Some things to note with this oscilloscope view: - A real YM2612 is inherently noisy. Nothing I can do about that. That's just how the chip is made, and it's similar to the N163 in this regard (the time-divison multiplexing, if I'm not mistaken). The YM3438 revision fixes this, at the cost of removing the ladder effect (which this cover heavily utilizes). - My AUX cord suffered from 60Hz interference during the recording. This one's easily fixable, and I've ordered a better cord to alleviate this. I've tried my best to reduce it in Audacity without compromising the look of the waves. - Corrscope with multiple columns makes the noisiness of the waves worse.

As a result, I made this over the span of a few days as a proof of concept. There's likely some things that can be improved, but I think this is more than enough to prove my point.
Additional Note: The wave channel seems to change volume, a lot. That's due to the DC Bias effect on DPCM. This also affects the original 2A03, and just like the 2A03's DPCM Bias, it clicks.
