The bench might genuinely be the worst seat in the house for judging a defensive mistake, and I think Izzo's reaction proves it.
When I broke down what actually happened on that play, it wasn't the disaster he thought he saw from the sideline. A rotation was slightly off, a teammate covered for it, shot missed, no big deal.
His logic was "we told him twice, so what else can we do but scream?" But if the instruction never landed clearly the first two times, why would volume be the thing that finally gets it through? Yelling louder doesn't translate a message a player never understood in the first place.
Coaching is communication. If it's not getting through, the fix isn't more decibels, it's better clarity. #shorts
