According to James McQuivey, Ph.D., VP, principal analyst at Forrester Research and curator of LeWeb'14 Paris' "Wearable Computing" conference track, the wearables market is "set to explode" in 2015.

42% of US consumers, for example, have told Forrester this year they'd be interested in having a connected device on their wrist; a 50% increase over 2013, says McQuivey. And that's even before the announcement of the Apple Watch, due to launch early 2015.

For McQuivey, "glanceability", or the possibility of getting things done just by looking at connected devices — consulting one's text messages on a watch, for example — "is swiftly becoming the new battleground for serving consumers in their moments of need."
