France's BEA released its preliminary findings on the June 28th, 2026 crash of a Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter skydiving plane near Nancy-Essey aerodrome in Tomblaine, France, which killed the pilot and ten parachutists. Two instructors independently reported smoke in the cabin during takeoff, moments before the aircraft entered a low-altitude turn and stalled asymmetrically. Investigators have ruled out several possible fire sources but haven't confirmed whether smoke existed before impact, and a full engine teardown is still underway in Canada.
