I wanted to start a new costume, but didn't have what I needed in my stash. Thankfully I had several curtains I was given years ago and each had a white cotton lining (I did my first fabric burn test to confirm it was cotton). I also had some rit dye in a yellow color. So I ripped the linings from the curtains, washed them (they've been in my crummy storage building), and set to work dyeing them yellow.
Sometimes sewing from your stash is more difficult. I COULD have just driven to the store and bought some yellow fabric. But instead I used supplies I already owned that have been sitting in storage for years and saved myself some money!
