Thanks to the help of a couple of super nice guys, I was able to exchange the shaft and gears from an older lower unit into the one on my motor. Packed it full of grease and gear oil, and it runs like a top! (Thanks, Adam, for that old motor you gave me!)....I should also thank alot of good folks at the iboats forum, who have probably saved me a few hundred bucks or so by now, by posting topics for the do-it-yourselfers.
