The Texas Bullet Train is the largest infrastructure project in Texas. It will have an estimated impact of $36 billion on the Texas economy over the first 25 years and create 10,000 jobs per year during its construction and another 1,000 permanent jobs when in full operation.
Though large in magnitude, the railroad will only require a small footprint similar to a typical two-lane farm to market road, and will follow existing right-of-way to the maximum extent possible. The current design of the system calls for more than 60 percent of the 240-miles of tracks to be elevated on viaducts, designed for large and conveniently located underpasses or overpasses.
