With the help of insertion tooling we transfer the heat treated conductor inside the radial plate, a metallic structure with grooves machined on both sides. The trajectory of the conductor and of the radial plate must match within fractions of millimetres. During this operation it is vital that the level of the conductor deformation is below 0.1%. Otherwise, the superconducting strands can get damaged and reduce the performance of the superconductor.
