We spent 4 days in the Lombardy Region of Northern Italy, exploring the towns of Bergamo and Verona.
Bergamo is a beautiful medieval town perched on a hill top. The CittĂ Alta or Upper Town area is absolutely stunning with it's tiny, winding alleyways that open up into picturesque piazzas, and the intricately patterned cobblestone streets, high clock towers and the thick fortified walls. And at the heart of the town are the divine St. Maria Maggiore's Basilica and the Bergamo Cathedral.
The 2nd town that we chose to explore was Verona, also known as the city of love. This place is steeped in Roman history and it was a really cool experience to walk around the Verona Arena trying to imagine what it might have been like in the days of gladiators.
