The 80s were not as romantic as young people like to imagine today. The Cold War, the nuclear threat and environmental catastrophes such as Harrisburgh, Sellafield and Chernobyl were the hallmarks of that time. Remember Kraftwerks 'Radioactivity'?

And my feeling is that it was taken much more seriously than the threat of climate change that we are facing today. But it was also an extremely creative time, when protest could take the form of a cheerful Spanish summer hit. It didn't matter that it came from Rimini, the birthplace of Italo-Disco! Probably the most hedonistic music style of the eighties! And in no genre there is more crazy synthesizer action! I love it, Ragazzi! Vamos!
